Athletics
Prince of Peace offers athletics through the Milwaukee Recreation Program. In the fall students in grades 5 and 6 are able to participate in soccer. Winter sports are volleyball for grades 5 through 8 either as one team or two and basketball for 6 through 8. Finally in the spring we offer soccer for grades 7 and 8 and softball for grades 5 through 8. Currently we have a squad of 16 cheerleaders who support the teams and participate in competition.
Extra Curriculars
The extra curricular offerings vary from year to year at Prince of Peace based on teacher talents and student interests. Currently we offer origami, newspaper club, scrapbooking, book club and reader's theatre. Guitar lessons, art club and open gym are some other extracurriculars offered to the students. The Milwaukee County 4H program sponsors Tech Wizards, a robotics club, and we also have a Boy Scout Troop.
Special Events
Throughout the year, Prince of Peace offers a variety of events both during the day and after school. Our students showcase their talents at the Christmas concert and the Talent Show. We have a carnival during Catholic Schools Week and a Family Carnival in May. Most months will have a Parents Involved in Education Night (PIE Night) with a speaker for the moms and dads and activities for the kids. This year we celebrated National Young Reader's Week with lots of special guest readers including firefighters, an alderman, Fr. Carlos and Fr. John, and parents.
Field Trips
The students at PoP love to go on field trips. We are very fortunate to partner with the Milwaukee Art Musuem, the Milwaukee Zoo and Alverno College's Distilling Essence Program to provide unique learning experiences for students at various grade levels. They attend plays, soccer games, Catholic youth retreats and visit the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. Our smallest friends always enjoy the pumpkin farm and the zoo. From big to little there's a field trip for everyone.
